Power of the Purse Supporting the Need

We are grateful for the generosity Power of the Purse has given to us and other great projects in our community! Your support towards our Back 2 Basics Hybrid School Pantry Program is giving students food, hygiene, cold weather gear, and supplies to help them succeed in school.

Power of the Purse granted a total of $46,748.47 to Minot community organizations at our fall 2021 grant meeting! Today we were joined by representatives from each organization to present their funding. Programs receiving funding include:

-Bus Passes for students through Jim Hill Middle School

-Campus enhancements at Domestic Violence Crisis Center

-Summer STEAM Academy for girls through Sunnyside Elementary

-Two sled hockey sleds through Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports

-"Back to Basics" hybrid school pantries through Minot Public School Foundation

- The Sanctuary - Sober Living For Women

Back2Basic Hybrid School Pantry is an essential component in identifying the unmet needs of students within the district and improving the health and emotional well-being of our students. What can seem like small obstacles can easily lead students off track. That is why ensuring students have access to basic needs is so important. A student cannot focus in the classroom if he or she is hungry, cold, tired. Closing the gap is the goal of this critical needs program. Creating a Hub of support within the schools helps meet the students where they are and creates a relationship to support positive support and increase the student’s success in graduating.  Working in conjunction with the schools, struggling students are discretely identified, and an action plan is put into place.

Please thank Power of the Purse if you see them in person as this was helpful in moving the missions forward for many local programs. If you would like to get involved with Back 2 Basics or would like to donate, please reach out to our office. 701-857-4555
